*** MARKETPLACE RULES - MUST READ!!! ***

Post by infamouz »

When posting in the Marketplace section, there are a few guidelines that need to be followed. In the subject field, state clearly and briefly what the subject is. This makes it easier for other users when searching the forums.

XX : YY – Description

Include the following acronyms as a prefix to the title:

1st Prefix (XX): Describe whether the post is about selling, buying, trading or in search of.
• FS: For Sale
• WTB: Want to Buy
• FT: For Trade
• ISO: In Search Of

2nd Prefix (YY): Mention the generation of the prelude the part is respective to
• 5th Gen (1997-2001)
• 4th Gen (1992-1996)
• 3rd Gen (1988-1991)
• 2nd Gen (1983-1987)
• 1st Gen (1978-1982)

Description – Please be as detailed as possible when describing your item. Use BNIB only where it’s applicable.
• BNIB: Brand New In Box
• OP: Open Box
• NOS: New Old Stock

An example would be:
FS: 5th Gen: Used JDM fog lights with harness, mint condition
WTB: 4th Gen: JDM climate control (complete set)
ISO: 3rd Gen: Mud flaps

1. The more information you can include in the post, the better. Pictures of the item from various angles as well as any and all defects. Pictures need to be included at the time of posting. Price must be included in all threads. No $1234 or “thinking of selling” type of posts.

2. Don’t include your phone number, email or any other sensitive information in your thread. This is for your protection.

3. Only Prelude related parts/accessories allowed. Post other items in the “miscellaneous” section.

4. No spam. Questions about the item are alright but keep it relevant.

5. Don’t change the conditions after the terms of the sale have been agreed upon. For example, if you have agreed to buy an OEM front lip with all mounting hardware (screws, brackets, etc), you are expected to provide everything agreed upon at the time of sale.

6. Auctions are not allowed! There have been some people in the community who have done what would best be described as silent auctions. This means that once a price was agreed upon, the seller delayed shipping the item out to the rightful buyer in the hopes of finding a higher offer, only to then cancel the transaction with the first buyer. This is dishonest and won’t be tolerated in the Canadian Prelude Club community. Be transparent in your ads and be respectful of others.

7. Parts for sale need to be your own. No posting up other people’s pictures, using generic pictures or “selling for a friend”. This is to make sure that the buyer is in direct contact with the seller without there being a middleman – overall, prevents miscommunication.

8. No commercial posts allowed. This is a place for the members of the community to buy and sell among each other. This is not a place for businesses to sell their goods, there are proper channels for that. Commercial posts will be deleted.

9. No flaming, or price bashing. If you don’t like the price, move along. If you have the same item you plan to sell for cheaper, start your own post.

10. Request to have your thread closed by the admins when the item is sold/found. This avoids confusion.

ONLINE PAYMENT:

This shouldn’t need to be said but it still comes up frequently. Local transactions are always better for both parties, it’s much lower risk. However, parts availability for the Honda Prelude is scarce. If conducting an online transaction, always be sure to pay via Paypal – Goods and Services! Do not use Friends and Family, as there is no buyer protection and no recourse in case of a scam.

As much as we want to believe the best about others in the community, the sad reality is that people’s intentions aren’t always honorable or genuine. And it’s up to you to try to protect yourself from a scam. If a seller wants to be paid via Facebook, Venmo, Paypal F&F, insist on using Paypal G&S. The fees are not an unreasonable amount in order to have peace of mind. It doesn’t take long to make an account and in the cases of people using those other methods, it’s usually for nefarious purposes. No honest seller would ask for such a risky method to be used. Scamming another will result in your name being put up in the CPC Hall of shame and banned. ¬
